Cookie policy
Read our policy on using cookies, including a list of the cookies we use.
What are cookies?
A cookie is a small text file that is stored on your computer or device, via your web browser, at the request of the websites you visit or applications you use. Cookies record things like your preferences and settings, which help give us the information we need to provide you with the most consistent and relevant experience. We also use cookies to record information about experiments or new improvements we might test to track how you use our services and find out whether they were effective.
Cookies are installed on a computer or mobile device via the browser (e.g. Microsoft Edge or Internet Explorer, Apple Safari, Google Chrome, or Firefox) when an individual visits a website.
Some of the cookies we use are removed as soon as you leave our website, because we don’t need to store this information between visits. They’re called ‘temporary’ or ‘session’ cookies. By contrast, ‘persistent’ cookies enable us to recognize you when you make return visits to our platform. They automatically expire when they reach a specified expiry date , unless you delete them earlier.
We also use similar technologies referred to as ‘tags’, ‘tracking pixels’, ‘local storage’, ‘scripts’, ‘device identifiers’, etc. These are implemented on our platform and may be used together with cookies to enable information to be stored on, or transmitted to and from, the device you use to access our website.
In this policy we collectively refer to all of these technologies as “cookies”.
We might add, remove or update the cookies we use, and update this policy accordingly. We’ll let you know of any significant changes to this policy when you next access our services, or by other communications.
Cookies allow websites to recognise that a user on an individual computer has previously visited the site. The cookies save some information about that user for when they access the site again in the future.
By using and browsing The Dispe website, you consent to cookies being used in accordance with our policy. If you do not consent, you must turn off cookies or refrain from using the site.
Most browsers allow you to turn off cookies. To do this, look at the ‘help’ menu on your browser. Switching off cookies may restrict your use of the website and/or delay or affect the way in which it operates.
What’s the difference between first- and third-party cookies?
First-party cookies are set by the website you visit; only that website can access and read those cookies.
Third-party cookies are set by someone other than the owner of the website you visit. These cookies can be used to track you on other websites that use the same third-party service.
Cookies on our website may be set by us, third parties we’re working with, or independent third parties, such as advertisers.
How do I turn off cookies?
Most modern browsers will offer different ways to configure how they handle cookies. This can vary from only allowing cookies from websites that you trust to blocking all cookies by default.
As the steps for controlling your settings can vary for each browser, we’ve included links to the official instructions for the most common browsers below:
For more advice on managing cookies, have a look at the All About Cookies website.
Please note that switching off cookies may restrict your use of the website and/or delay or affect the way in which it operates.
Changes to this Cookie Policy
In keeping with legal requirements, we may need to update our cookie policy occasionally. A recent example of this is the EU General Data Protection Regulation (or GDPR).
Cookie consent
By using our website, our social media pages (such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram), subscribing to our services, and/or making a payment, you agree that, unless you disabled them within your internet browser, we can place the types of cookies set out below on your device and use that data in accordance with this Policy.
What types of cookies are there and how do we use them?
Broadly, there are 4 types of cookies:
Strictly necessary cookies
Strictly necessary cookies are required for the basic functions of our website. For that reason, you can’t opt out of these cookies. We restrict these cookies to only those that are essential for us to deliver the services you have requested. For example, we use strictly necessary cookies to provide login functionality and support services, remember information such as your language preferences and the features we make available to you based on factors such as the device you are using, and your city- or country-level geographic location. We also use strictly necessary cookies to give you the option to accept or reject cookies, to help us remember your cookie choices and settings, and to keep track of if and when you accepted our Privacy Policy, Terms & Conditions, and gave consent for email marketing.
Performance cookies
Performance cookies gather statistics we use to make our website even better. The information collected via the performance cookies tracks how you use our website during your visit. It helps us understand visitor usage patterns, identify, and diagnose problems or errors you may encounter, and make better strategic decisions in improving the website experience.
You can opt out of the use of these cookies on your device by following the instructions in ‘How can you opt out of cookies?’ below.
Functionality cookies
Functionality cookies are used in collecting information about your device and any settings you configure on the website you visit. This includes remembering your username and password when you return to the website, and remembering information about your browser and preferences (e.g. your preferred language). We use this information to provide you with customized, enhanced and optimized content and services.
Marketing cookies
We use marketing cookies to determine what promotional content is more relevant and appropriate to you and your interests. Based on information relating to your access to and use of our platform and other websites on your devices, third-party advertising companies show ads about goods and services that may be of interest to you. To do so, these companies may place or recognize a unique cookie on your browser (including through the use of pixel tags). They may also use these technologies, along with the information they collect about your online use, to recognize you across the devices you use, such as a mobile phone and a laptop. For information on how to opt out of marketing cookies, please see below.
Here’s a list of all the strictly necessary, performance, functionality, and marketing cookies we use.
